JDT secured their first ever Malaysia Super League title in 2014 after they beat Sarawak on the final match day of the season through Jorge Pereyra Diaz's goal. Going into the final match of the league season, JDT knew they had to better Selangor's result on the night and they promptly did so as the latter could only produce a 2-2 draw against PKNS FC to finish three points behind the champions.

JDT 2 Bengaluru 1 (4 Feb 2015)
It was the first time that JDT had appeared in the AFC Champions League, albeit in the qualifying stage. Indian side Bengaluru FC were the opponent and JDT snatched a victory to move on to the next stage. Hariss Harun had put JDT in front just after the break but Eugeneson Lyngdoh's equaliser in the 89th minute caused the home side plenty of worry. However S. Chanturu popped up with the all-important winner in the sixth minute of added time to send JDT through.

Bangkok Glass 3 JDT 1 (10 Feb 2015)
The Thai side proved too hot for JDT to handle as they crashed out of the ACL qualifiers, which meant they were dropped into the AFC Cup competition that year. Narong Jansawek put the home side in front in the first half before a brace from Lazarus Kaimbi sealed JDT's fate in the elite cup competition in Asia.

JDT 4 East Bengal 1 (24 Feb 2015)
The first match of Group F saw JDT welcoming another Indian side to Larkin when they took on East Bengal. Nazrin Nawi had put the hosts ahead before Ranti Martins equalised for the visitors. Safiq Rahim stuck away a spot kick before half time for JDT to regain control of the match. Further goals from S. Chanturu and Safee Sali in the second half secured a positive start for JDT in the AFC Cup.
